Walker Odell Rushing
Below I have the current update from Sydney on Walker and his medical journey. I encourage you to open your heart to this family for prayers and donations.
Currently they are with Walker’s Special medical team in Delaware. What was only supposed to be a week long trip, is now turning into 7-12 weeks. He will undergo a surgery to correct his breathing and feeding issue. This is will be a game changer for Walker and I’m just so thankful that he is with a skilled team that is familiar with his diagnosis!
The Rushing’s have plenty on their plate and I would love to provide them the funds so they can take the financial stress off of them while they are away from their home for 2 months. During these two months all they should need to worry about is Walker. They will not be able to work during this time, they will be need money for food, possibly a place to stay, bills back home, medical bills, etc. They would never ask for help but they are so incredibly deserving. Thank you so much in advance for blessing this sweet family. God chose them specifically for Walker and everyday it is evident why. They are so strong and resilient.

Turns out our 2 day stay here in Delaware has now turned into a 7-12 week stay. During Walkers sleep study the other night they noticed his CO2 numbers were frightening high and that’s why they admitted him. After sitting down with his full skeletal dysplasia team a bunch of times yesterday they have decided that he needs a tracheostomy surgery to help his breathing and release of CO2 and G button surgery so we doesn’t have to feed through a tube through his nose anymore. What we do not know is how his cervical kyphosis (bend in his neck) will handle the position of the tracheostomy. On Monday he is getting intubated and under a little anesthesia to get an MRI so his orthopedic doctors can see and we go from there. Plan A is just the tracheostomy and G button.. Plan B is surgery on his neck, the tracheostomy and G button. As scared and nervous as we are we know we are exactly where we need to be and Walker is in Gods hands! I’ve let out my big cry yesterday and im sure i’m going to have much much more but having this whole weekend to process everything has helped. I cant thank my husband enough for being our rock and the strength we need during all of this. Honestly I dont know what I would do without him.
We are asking for prayers for plan A, strength for Walker, Odell and I, his doctors and nurses and for smooth and safe surgeries. I’m still in shock but i’ve known something has been wrong for awhile and i’m so thankful for God sending us to the right hospital who see kiddos like Walker all the time.
